1956 wurde der Verein von Gustav Fels, Edwin Fischer und Johannes Hülshoff mit dem Ziel gegründet, den Fremdenverkehr in Bleiwäsche zu fördern. Die Aufgabenstellung hat sich im Laufe der Zeit verändert. So stehen Tradition und Brauchtum, die Pflege von Ruhebänken und touristischer Anlaufpunkte im Mittelpunkt des Vereinsarbeit.

Der Heimat- u. Verkehrsverein bietet geführte Wanderungen und Ausflüge in die nähere Umgebung an.
